Polsonic - energy management in an office building - case study
The Lerta Energy Intelligence system automatically controls the heating in the office building, reducing heat demand and optimizing heat consumption, and reads data from electricity meters that allows each tenant to be billed according to actual consumption and to catch anomalies in electricity management.
The biggest challenge for us was the high energy consumption of the existing solution, rigid heating hours of the building causing penalties for exceeding the contracted capacity in the morning and time-consuming, "manual" control of meters.
We have been cooperating with Lerta since February 2019, when it implemented the Lerta Energy Intelligence system in the Polsonic office building. As part of the project, measurement and control devices were installed, connected to the application for data management and analysis. Total heat energy savings are 22. 5% compared to the period before the system was implemented.

Preparation for the first employees
The first people start work at 7. 00 a.m. The system issues an order to increase the temperature in production and storage halls to 18oC. Gradual heating of the rooms saves energy and flatten the peak of energy demand. This avoids possible penalties for exceeding the contracted capacity.
Preparing the office
At 7. 30 a. m. office workers start their working day. The system increases the temperature to 22oC in the offices of the Communication Department and to 21oC in other offices. The mayor likes the warmth, so the temperature here is increased to 23oC.
7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
A working day
The system maintains the desired temperature in each room by controlling radiators and air conditioners fully automatically. Door and window opening sensors prevent energy losses while ventilating rooms by cutting off the heating during this time.
The system knows that a two-hour meeting of the Promotion Department is scheduled for 12: 30 p. m. in the session room, and from 3: 45 p. m. to 5:00 p. m. there will be a Council meeting. The room temperature, so far at 15oC, is set to 21oC.
The system knows that after the work is finished, the cleaning of the rooms takes place, which lasts until 18. 00. Only now it disconnects all energy-intensive devices such as air conditioners and lowers the room temperature in such a way that the energy consumption to maintain heating and to regulate the temperature on the next day is as low as possible.
6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Motion sensors detected that the main accountant's room was not finished yet. The temperature in this room is maintained at all times when people are in it.

9:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m.
The building is empty, the last offices are closing. AI lowers the temperature in the building to minimize the energy demand while nobody is there and to prepare for the morning heating.
